Calvin Harris – Motion [Album Stream]

By now you’ve probably guessed I like Calvin Harris. What can I say? He was my first real brush with the whole scene so I’ve got somewhat of a soft spot for any and all. Testing the waters with 2007’s debut I Created Disco, finding his footing with 2009’s Ready For The Weekend, and jumping right in the genre blending electro-pop pool with 2012’s 18 Months, the 30 year old has set himself apart as one of the world’s most established and celebrated music moguls.

Now you can stream his latest Motion in all it’s digital glory via iTunes Radio before next week’s November 4th release. Having been granted a look at nearly half of the limits pushing album already through various previews and promotional singes, I’m pleased to say the rest of the album does not disappoint, keeping up the offbeat, unconventional tones.

After a first listen I’d say standouts among the new material include “Pray To God” and “Dollar Signs” highlighted by the decision to collaborate with unexpected features HAIM and Tinashe respectively. Then you’ve got your patented club ready tracks “It Was You” [a Firebeatz collab] and “Overdrive” [a Ummet Ozcan collab] plus your more radio friendly fare like “Faith”, another solo effort and “Together”, a Gwen Stefani assisted cut. Finally there’s one I wasn’t really anticipating, the ballad burner “Ecstacy” which finds “Under Control” compatriot Theo Hutchcraft of Hurts serenading over a delicate, no frills synth line. It’s a shift from anything you’re used to, but that’s the beauty behind what makes Calvin so unique.

“Pray To God” (ft. Haim)

“Dollar Signs” (ft. Tinashe)

“Ecstacy” (ft. Hurts)
