I know very little about Bashwood, other than he released somewhat of a birthday tribute to Calvin Harris as the Scottish DJ turned 31 last week. Popping up on the relative newcomer’s SoundCloud feed is a Deep House rebuild of my absolute favorite song…ever, “Thinking About You.” So you know I wasn’t going to squander a write-up treatment.

A serene opening, featuring Ayah Marar’s faultless vocals, builds slowly until that bass kicks in, shifting this into a loungey stomper. Then an accentuated version of the original instrumental with futuristic synths and an irrepressible tempo brings you to the “much too soon” climax. Birthday present well done!
