Brighton three piece Kitten and The Hip are brand spanking new to these pages, but I have a feeling they’ll be seeing some consistent love here after listening to their latest “I Wanna B Onnit.” Off of their forthcoming, yet untitled EP, it’s nu-funk meets hip-hop with a dash of disco thrown in for good measure and I can’t stop grooving to it. The deep baseline is the driving force behind its musical gusto, but the coquettish back and forth between Kitten Quinn’s hook and hubby Ashley Slater’s old-school flow is an unexpected bonus. And the cowbell! Gosh, I love me some cowbell.
