I know I’m in the minuscule minority here, but Sia has never really done it for me. The over-morose ballads depress while her exaggerated persona is Liz Lemon eye roll worthy. BUT! I must give credit where credit is due. The established star, with a little help from Kanye [co-writer/producer], just hooked us up with a morsel of chewy pop yumness.

“Reaper,” This Is Acting’s latest single, plays up the lighter side of Sia, something rarely seen recently. An upbeat, almost airy cadence lays the groundwork for her to deliver a flawless match of lyric and melody, something she rarely ever misses on [I’ll give her that much].

It’s funny though, she doesn’t have much love for the song herself. She tells Rolling Stone in their February issue “I don’t care about the song” going on to add she didn’t anticipate it making the record’s final cut. I guess Sia and I will never see eye to eye after all.
