Netflix has quickly become a treasure trove of high-quality entertainment and general badassery so it’s no surprise to find its influence seeping into the consciousness of hip-hop’s own BAMFs. Just recently you have Wiz Khalifa sampling the Stranger Things theme on his single of the same name and now Joey Bada$$ has worked the Narcos theme into his latest “Front and Center.”
Produced by Cookin Soul, the three minute cut makes good use of the Rodrigo Amarante composition and its hypnotic ebb. The Brooklyn rapper is set up to then flow freely over a trap-lite beat, but it’s all about the darkly spellbinding strings of the Narcos’ score for me. I can’t get enough.
