It has been a few minutes since Digital High checked in on Zedd, but that dry spell ends today as the premier producer releases his flip of the Shawn Mendes pop-funker “Lost In Japan.”

Glitched up and clubbed out, this hot take ratchets up the rhythm with increased synth melodics and a booming breakdown for each chorus. And in keeping with the original, Mendes’ smooth serenades are retained and made more striking through stylish layering choices. But would it kill him to go easy on the ticking clock that has seemingly become a trademark of late?
