If you’re going to cover an act as avant-garde as Fred again.., you better use Half Moon Run’s flip of the UK beat-crafter’s Obongjayar collaboration “adore u” as blueprint.
Performed live from the idyllic Treehouse Studio an hour north of the trio’s Montreal homestead, this new rendition downplays the original’s electronic-minded slant and instead leans into a more robust sound found in the practice of organic instrumentation. A piano through-line and delicate strings replace the modulated melody of the house groove to make for a heightened listening experience and appreciative reproduction-effort.
