Digital High’s Top 20 of 2023 [Part 2]

Digital High’s Top 20 of 2023 [Part 1]
20. “Break” – Holiday87 ft. Minke
19. “I’m Not Here To Make Friends” – Sam Smith ft. Calvin Harris & Jessie Reyez
18. “Waffle House” – Jonas Brothers
17. “Arizona” – Dempsey Bolton
16. “Pixelated” – Juliana Madrid

15. “SOME THINGS”tobi lou
As far as fresh flows go, tobi lou’s three verses on “SOME THINGS” hit hard and don’t hold back. Pair that with a deep thump and some electrifying riffs and you’ve got yourself a bold and brash bounce to bump.

14. “Better Place”*NSYNC
You’re damn right Digital High’s favorite, one-time boy band are going to make this list when they reunite for some silly kids movie twenty years later. Nostalgia aside, it’s pure pop pleasure hearing Justin, JC, Joey, Chris, and Lance lay down those sanguine harmonies again. And the upbeat pulse, sprinkled with earnest energy and emotion, matches the moment and lands itself on this list quite nicely.

13. “scenic route”sundial
One of the last additions to the year-end mix, “scenic route” from sundial makes its way here for two reasons. It’s positive; seriously there may not be a more uplifting tune on tap here. And it’s fun; the verses bring a smile and the beat doesn’t quit. It’s as simple as that.

12. “MODERN JAM”Travis Scott ft. Teezo Touchdown
If tobi lou’s entry “SOME THINGS” goes hard, this shit goes…harder. Teamed up with Teezo Touchdown and his glam-rock vocal assist, Travis Scott scorches the experimental Utopia cut with his fiery flow. And that beat, that fucking beat! It’s a monster.

11. “Scientists & Engineers”Killer Mike ft. André 3000, Future, and Eryn Allen Kane
On the other end of the experimental spectrum, Killer Mike’s Southern hip hop sound off “Scientists & Engineers” is a muted listen, opting for a more synthful sound instead and allowing this crew’s impactful lyricism to tell the story. And it absolutely works.
