mxmtoon, scorned singer+songwriter, lashes out at an ex (and The Lone Star State for good measure) in a most melodical measure on new cut “i hate texas.”
Previewing her newly announced album liminal space [out Nov. 1], this country-hued alt-pop’r is a playful look into the visceral response of heartbreak as the West Coast creative recalls all the ways in which she’ll get over her woes, including running down South where everything’s bigger in Texas (even all the exits, she sings at one point).
Along for the ride are a twang’d out fiddle and guitar section and a big, bold, steadying pace that allows for a vocal presence emitting both raw candor and empathetic resonance in one.
She may hate Texas, but you’re going to love this listen.
