Aussie singer+songwriter Jude York, taking a page out of a century’s old songbook, is promoting a nostalgic, coming-of-age romanticism on his new tune “Those Were The Days.”
Flipping a 1920’s Eastern European folk song into a modern-day, dance-pop display is no easy feat but the newcomer achieves success as he blends a contemporary thump with traditional melodics in a most agreeable fashion; the grooves never disappoint and the energy never quits. Touching on his process, he shares:
After digging deep into the recesses of my brain, the phrase ‘Those Were The Days’ attached itself to the line, and I could hear exactly where I wanted to take the song. As soon as I started playing with the production and recording vocals, I felt I was onto something special.
Nailed it.
