Lady Gaga ft. Gesaffelstein – “Killah”

Now that the intial excitement surrounding the rollout of Lady Gaga’s near perfect project MAYHEM has somewhat subsided Digital High is able to fully engage with the album unbiased-ly so. And a favorite has emerged.

No it’s not one of the strong dance-pop cuts DH would normally obsess over. Rather it’s the electro-funk fuel’d “Killah” tuning ears over here.

Featuring and co-produced alongside French music maker Gesaffelstein, track #6 embraces the creative’s industrial leanings to lend a darker aesthetic to Gaga’s dangerous game of seduction. That influence is especially felt in the latter half of the record as the groove loses its structure and all kinds of distorted hell breaks loose.

Luckily for us that moment of melodic collapse is burned on film too after the pop icon’s Saturday Night Live performance of the song sealed the deal.

Not that this should shock anyone but Gaga has done it again.
