Pop upstart Chappell Roan has seen her star rise over the last couple of years almost exponentially so it’s a little bit funny that it took a country turn for Grammy’s Best New Artist to appear on these Digital High pages for the first time.

“The Giver” straddles that familiar line between country and pop; boasting traditional riff runs and a throwback twang. But its the dulcet melodics and cheeky fun from our soloist (she who can pleasure her partner better than any man can) that steer this tune passed Nashville’s charts and straight on to Top 40 ascendance.

Genres be damned. Good music is universal.
