Chloe Qisha – “Sex, Drugs & Existential Dread”

Chloe Qisha is quickly becoming a favorite of Digital High after experiencing her hits like “21st Century Cool Girl” and “I Lied, I’m Sorry.” But the Malaysian-born, UK based creative has outdone herself with the phenomenal “Sex, Drugs & Existential Dread.”

Overwhelming anxieties are at the heart of this track, as you could imagine given the alarming title. But the soloist flips that notion on its head with an almost optimistic composite of funk and disco glistening under a pop glaze.

It’s in that juxtaposition of apprehension and levity where this track really takes off. And when you top it off with her mirthful melodics you can’t help but smile, even as the world falls apart around us.

Is she the next voice of a generation? Maybe. But for now just enjoy the listen.
