The longtime genre-agnostic Duckwrth is doing his thing again as he drops the tasty, alt-punk-tune’d “Hurricane J.I.M.”
This final preview of his All American F⭐️ckBoy project [out Apr. 2] is a raw and cathartic exploration of personal reckoning set to a pronounced bounce. Channeling early era N.E.R.D, the beat-innovator fuses elements of rock, punk, and hip-hop to convey his heightened sense of self-reflection and to get your listenin’ ass grooving. Speaking to the motivation, he shares:
You never really heal and move on from your traumas until you first admit that they’re there. This song is me accepting that I’m fully engulfed in the storm. But like every hurricane, there’s the eye…I metaphorically call this place ‘acceptance.’ A place where you have a clear view of the chaos around you.
Well said. Well sung.
