Canadian soloist Devon Cole is on a very specific apology tour with her latest listen “Sorry Mom,” a lighthearted righting of the wrongs her teenage self levied on her mother.
It’s all love and laughs here though as a groovy little baseline and disco runs build the sonic backbone of our singer+songwriter’s heartfelt regret. She expounds on the moment:
I was challenging to raise – rebellious, defiant, stubborn, unruly. An absolute teenaged diva…I know thereβs a boatload of mischievous souls out there who will relate to this song. Equal parts apology and anthem, [this song] is for the rebels who turned out alright (eventually).
As far as anthems of apology go, this one is tops.
