Earth to Eve – “THREAT LEVEL ORANGE”

Digital High has tried to stay out of American politics since its inception over a decade ago, but that goal has proven futile now that our once great country is faced with a fascist coup by the world’s worst humans. So with what little influence I can muster for the cause I will. And today that means amplifying voices of resistance like Earth to Eve and her call to action “THREAT LEVEL ORANGE.”

It’s not subtle. The scourge of our ardent soloist’s ire is Donald Trump, a narcissist hell-bent on dividing (and grifting) his own people for personal profit. Secret police are in the streets terrorizing Brown and Black families while he and his lily White kin are scamming hard working citizens out of their money in whatever crypto scheme they’re running today – and that’s just the tip of this wholly corrupt iceberg. It’s enough to make any sane person crazy, but has become so normalized we’ve come to accept it. Still, winds are slowly shifting and a rise of refusal is starting to shape.

EtoE is the face of that force. She sets her sights squarely on His Orangeness and unleashes a barrage of insults and insights all while a simple thump bumps in the background. With lines like “Ain’t it obvious the person in the office is a racist? Bride came in the mail, but he opposеs immigration / That’s someone’s abuelita, not a forеign armed invasion” and “Defunding education when half the country can’t read / Well, now it’s clicking for me / You need the people asleep / And knowledge is the greatest threat to propaganda machines” her message is clear: The American Dream’s like any other / Open your eyes and its gone.

Embrace this anthem, embrace the resistance, and we may have a country we can come to embrace once again.
