For anyone tired of traditional love songs, Brighton-based quartet congratulations are flipping the script as they share their anti-love anthem “Fought 4 Love.”
Appearing on their upcoming, debut album Join Hands [out Feb. 13], the alt-indie cut kicks off with a floor-stomping riff before unfolding into
a dance rock-meets-new wave pop piece rooted in thunderous groove. That raucous energy is matched in the verse and hook as lead vocalist Leah Stanhope eschews the orthodoxy in a most vociferous manner. She explains her animus thusly:
There are so many songs out there about love; falling in love, being in love, but what about falling out of love? No, not a breakup song, there are plenty of those, this is an anti-love song, realising that sometimes letting go of love is the best thing for you, that we all grow up and apart and that’s actually fine.
Words to espouse and a song to embrace.
