They grow up so fast these days.
It seems like just yesterday Harry, Liam, Niall, Zayn, and Louis were introduced to the world as part of X Factor UK’s seventh season but that was already four years ago this summer. Since then the fellas of One Direction have taken the globe by charming storm, leaving behind countless tear-soaked tweens in their wake. But gone are the days of the bubblegum pop that brought them such quick fame. Instead they’ve been slowly transitioning into a more mature sound. It started with the release of last year’s alt-rock tinged Midnight Memories and continues with the lead up to November’s Four.
“Steal My Girl,” our first official taste, finds the boys channeling their inner Journey on this mid-tempo ballad with a more modern take on the bands’ 1983 hit “Faithfully“. Lifting the familiar piano play of the original and coupling that with an infectious hook the lads have yet another hit on their hands. And I’ve got to say for five guys that were all born in the 90’s they actually do Steve Perry some justice here.
Four is out November 17th, but you can pre-order now via iTunes.
