DH’s Top 20 Of 2014 [20-11]:
20. “The One” – The Knocks ft. Sneaky Sound System

18. “Best Friend” – Foster The People
17. “Never Say Never” – Basement Jaxx ft. ETML
16. “Summer” – Calvin Harris

11. “Unmissable” – Gorgon City ft. Zak Abel
10. “Power To The People” – Basement Jaxx
Checking in for the second time, Basement Jaxx dropped another absolute
House wowzer off of Junto with “Power To The People.” The positive vibes
flow like good wine with good friends as the deep percussion builds to an
almost euphoric aural climax. Plus it clocks in at a very healthy five and half
minutes. That’s positively delightful.
9. “Lionhearted” – Porter Robinson ft. Urban Cone
This year saw the release of one of the more hotly anticipated debuts,
as young Porter Robinson graced the masses with electronica epic Worlds.
Led by an array of synth wonderment, it’s the album’s third single firmly
positioning itself at number 9. “Lionhearted” is a slice of electro-anthem
heaven aided by the vocal stylings of indie-pop outfit Urban Cone. A true
treat.
8. “Find You” – Zedd ft. Matthew Koma & Miriam Bryant
After riding high on the successes of his own debut, 2012’s Clarity, EDM
phenom Zedd returned to the charts with “Find You,” his contribution to the
Divergent original soundtrack. Featuring vocals from Matthew Koma and
Miriam Bryant, it’s an electro House tour-de-force I could not get enough of
this year
7. “My Friend Has A Swimming Pool” – MAUSI
The initial post that was my blogging baptism checks in at 7. “My Friend Has
A Swimming Pool,” from MAUSI, would have easily been my unofficial “Song
of the Summer” if it weren’t for a track popping up a little higher on this list,
but that doesn’t cheapen this fun and energetic nu-Disco surprise.
6. “Say Something” – Karen Harding
Karen Harding, one to watch out for in 2015, dropped an absolute smash in
“Say Something.” This deep, uptempo cut effortlessly blends the pure vocals
of the songtress with one insanely catchy bassline thanks to producer and
House prodigy MNEK. I can’t heap enough praise here, really!
