Nothing halfway decent has piqued my interest today so I’ve decided to start a new series, Been Sleeping On. It’ll be periodic write-ups on songs I’m currently digging, but have let slip by in terms of fresh blog attention.

The inaugural honor goes to indie-powerhouse MisterWives and their crazy catchy tune “Our Own House.” Led by Mandy Lee Duffy and her unconventionally strong vocals, this hand-clapper is an insta-harbinger of cheer and merriment. Be it the horns trumpeting the top-notch hook, or the electric bassline pushing on through the close, the NYC quintet have a good ‘ole fashioned pop anthem on their hands.

Look for the debut album of the same name out February 24 via Republic Records. And check out their glittering “Reflections” as a bonus.
