So like most humans with a pulse I love any and all that has to do with Game of Thrones. Still I had no idea the beloved Grey Worm was a distinguished MC until a few months ago. Well not Daenerys’ Unsullied side-muscle, but the actor portraying him Jacob Anderson aka Raleigh Ritchie, his Royal Tenenbaum’s inspired stage name. Since then I’ve been meaning to get a post up but hadn’t found the right opportunity. That was until now.
Taking to his SoundCloud page, the 25 year old has shared the official remixes to his upcoming debut album’s lead single, the slow burner “Bloodsport” [which also happens to summarize GoT rather succinctly]. There’s a solid drum and bass take from SpectraSoul, but it’s a deep house arrangement from another new-to-me act that’s got me torqued.
GRADES, the fresh faced London beat-maestro behind 2015 fave “King,” has unleashed a complete dance transformation, upping the energy and bpm with a relentless bassline ensured to elicit a full-body response. But he’s also maintained and enhanced the bread and butter of the original; Ritchie’s haunting melodies percolate throughout adding another layer of cool to the rework. Looks like Grey Worm tapped the right man for the job now that Ser Barristan is out of the picture…spoiler alert!
