Zak Waters knows a thing or two about that sublime SoCal sun doesn’t he. That aesthetic sense shines through with the Los Angeles native’s recent project Pretty Sister; last Spring’s groover “California Girl” as a perfect example.
Now he’s back with “Drive,” a smooth-tongued take on what it’s like to experience that West Coast playground for the first time. Waters says about the track:
I thought about what must it be like to have just moved here from Michigan or New York or Detroit? Driving through Laurel Canyon with the palm trees and then sun and the warmth…the feeling of endless possibility and beautiful people all around you…it must be pretty exciting. I grew up in it and shit, it still excites me every day!
On this new cut, that passion is embodied by a poppy, r&b tinged bassline and a the crooner’s enduring falsetto. Experience the sunny sensation with a spin below and grab a copy now via iTunes.
