Mayer Hawthorne is gearing up for the release of Man About Town, his first solo album in three years, with latest preview “Love Like That.” Having already shared last month’s slow and steady “Cosmic Love,” the effortlessly cool balladeer switches it up, offering up a throwback to that 80’s suave-pop sound.
Hawthorne must have been dusting off his <emPrivate Eyes-era Hall & Oates tapes recently because he’s channeling both Daryl Hall’s dulcet, smooth vibes and John Oate’s rocking swagger here. And the track itself grooves somewhere between blue-eyed soul simpatico and funkalicious satisfaction. Stream for yourself and be sure to check on Man About Town, available April 8th via BMG.
