I’ll be honest I’m not familiar with Chicago’s ADaD or his body of work, but that’s never stopped me from appreciating a dope tune before, and today is no different. With the help of a few friends, the MC has offered up “Holdin’ On,” a refreshingly smooth throwback of a jam. Joining ADaD for this jazz-funk celebration of subjugation is The Roots’ legendary lead Black Thought with features from lyricists Yaw and Khari Lemuel while producer Tensei mans the boards. If this is the type of heat that’s generated when these guys get involved, consider me a fan.
Stream “Holdin’ On” below and be on the lookout for ADaD’s Drifted EP out later this year.
