Receiving its initial airplay as part of Nora En Pure’s BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix a little under a month ago, EDX’s “My Friend” finally saw it’s official release via Spinnin’ Records yesterday and it was well worth the wait.

A revamp of the Groove Armada classic by the same name, the cut is breathed new life thanks to an injection of deep house funk from the Swiss beat-crafter. The original’s melody is nearly unrecognizable as the swirling synths and bass-heavy rhythms take over, but the vibed-out vocals still ring true making for a contemporary update that remembers where it came from.
