So the internet, in all her infinite madness, is freaking out over speculation that Calvin Harris’ brand new single may or may not be about Taylor Swift [of course it is] and I’m just like “Damn, this is a pretty fresh song.”
The Scottish supernova’s uncommon vocals float over a familiar piano-driven sound before the cut transitions into a trop-lite house anthem for the masses of jilted lovers out there. “You were the one thing in my way” he melodically chants over bounce-heavy instrumentation; the kick-drum working overtime. But it’s the stringed components that underscores the song’s latent emotion. Looks like she-who-shall-not-be-named is in for another drag with this one.
