Next up is a double dip from electronic music phenom Zedd. I was an early adopter of the Alessia Cara assisted “Stay” when it dropped late last month but I wasn’t thrilled with the product…at first. Then listen after listen I quickly realized this was another in a long line of pop-house smashes from the prolific beat-crafter. It’s the easily accessible midtempo production paired with Cara’s unmatched range that gradually build to set this number apart from most of today’s pedestrian EDM takes.
But that’s not all I’ve been sleeping on from the Russo-German. His True Colors collaboration “Beautiful Now” featuring soloist Jon Bellion was certified Gold in 2015; it was everywhere. So of course I got my fair share of spins in two years ago. It’s last year’s nu-disco revamp from ZEE that I’m just now getting around to appreciating. It’s a shame too because the infusion of funky disco synths and bassed out chord progressions makes for absolute aural gratification.
