NYC-based Pauline Pisano is an accomplished singer-songwriter on the cusp of a deserved breakthrough thanks in large part to her latest project Inside The Wheel. A ten track conceptual, Pauline takes on the role of three personalities [distinguished by unique vocal timbres] in a dialogue on forgiveness and self-awareness. But it’s big cut “The Well” that truly shows off her music-making prowess.
A song about “the radical acceptance of a difficult situation and finding peace in the midst of a troubling moment,” imposing strings and persistent percussion come together before the talented soloist forges ahead with her vocal sojourn. But it’s the remaining salvo that truly impresses. Robust piano and thumping bass from producer Dan Weiner build around a misgiving melody before the sonic narrative’s rousing climax.
