Jonathan Cloud is an aspiring beat-crafter and emcee hailing from Boston who happens to have a knack for sample-driven sounds of genres and eras past. That inspired style is forefront on his latest project Welcome Home, but it’s the lead track “Stuck In My Ways” that really brings the approach home.

Actually released two months ago, I’m just now coming online with the contemporary callback to 80’s English pop. Relying on an over-modded sample of Swing Out Sister’s breakthrough “Waiting Game,” Cloud’s percussion-laden take shows off his unique weave of passion and sonic chaos for a truly organic mix. And the added layer of his lyrical aptitude only serves to augment an already kickin’ cut.
