It’s been too long since Brighton-based bunch Fickle Friends were featured on these pages. Their style of musicmaking is endearingly lively and always worth repeated listens. So I’m glad to share support once again, this time for their latest “Hard To Be Myself.”
First follow up to last August’s EP Glue, the electroni-pop piece engages with airy synths before the pulsating beat sets in and full-bodied instrumentation takes on a life of its own. But lead singer Natassja Shiner, dare I say, shines as she cascades over verse and melody with easy confidence, a pointed paradoxical turn given the lyrical content.
