Pussy Riot – Police State

Vladamir Putin’s fiercest tormentors Pussy Riot are out to sew dissent once more on their latest piece of dazzling discord, the video for “Police State.”

A confrontation of authoritarian overreach [from director Matt Creed] set to a seemingly sweet electro-pop backdrop [c/o producer Ricky Reed], this new offering immediately engages on both a musically and socially conscious level. That’s in large part due to the juxtaposition of upbeat bumps and bounce and soaring melodics against visuals displaying a not so unimaginable dystopia where actress Chloë Sevigny wields an unrelenting baton over a group of masked girls.

But the distressing intendment isn’t hammered home until that same group are strapped down and forced to watch an unending parade of the aforementioned Russian President and our very own Donald Trump glad-handing for the unnerved masses.

While us Americans haven’t seen that level of dictorial rhetoric common in Russia, the parallels are clear and serve as a pertinent reminder to stay vigilant and resist. Heed their warning with a stream below and grab a copy of your own:
