Now this is the Man of the Woods we’ve been waiting for. After Justin Timberlake released the promo trailer for his upcoming fifth studio album that hinted at a contemporary Americana aesthetic, discerning ears were understandably confused by the first two releases rooted in hip hop flair. But that changes today with the release of “Say Something,” a collaboration with one of country music’s biggest acts Chris Stapleton.

Deep bass womps kick the cut off, but it isn’t long before plucks of the guitar and syncopated hand-clapping start to form the balance of this pensive genre-blender. Then its left to the superstar duo to trade verses contemplating introspective challenges, with that reflective spirit resonating in their harmonies. The MotW fanfare can begin in earnest now.
