Freedom Baby – When We Go

Orchestral indie-pop is a sub-genre that doesn’t get nearly as much love here as it probably and more to the point, rightfully should. So I offer up the spirited “When We Go” from Toronto duo Freedom Baby as penance today.

First official preview of their upcoming EP How You’ll Grow [out March 9], the cut tackles the inevitability that is death, not through somber sonics but rather in grand celebratory fashion. Easing in with the plucks of a ukulele and traditional brass, the two create a soothing welcome before erupting into a bountiful tapestry of melody and harmony lifted by the inclusion of a full instrumental compliment.

The end result is a beautiful ode to an otherwise ugly subject matter and an original mix you’re going to want to get familiar with; stream below:
