Future Jr. – Forget About Me

Matt Nainby aka Future Jr. may have been born in the early 90s, but on his latest release he channels the synthful spirit of the previous decade like only a true 80s kid could.

“Forget About Me,” premiered earlier by the always au courant Zane Lowe, is honest introspection buoyed by contemporary electroni-pop production spun about a clever nod to the erstwhile sound. A fluttering bassline and dynamic synth-work keep pace while a pop-perfected hook straight out of a John Hughes’ flick enamors the listener, but its the young soloist’s lyrical lament over the painstaking choice of love or success that will resonate long after an initial listen.
