Emmy Wildwood – Everything Hurts

If Betty Friedan’s The Feminine Mystique had been pitched for the silver-screen treatment in the 1980s, burgeoning singer-songwriter Emmy Wildwood’s latest would be it’s title theme.

“Everything Hurts,” an experimental-pop piece giving voice to female vigor, blends the aforementioned decade’s gilded synths and soaring riffs with an impassioned style of contemporary storytelling. The young soloist says of the track:

We’re taught as women to constantly withstand everything in all of our relationships, romantic or otherwise, so things have to be really bad to get the strength to fight for fair treatment and justice. Because we’re taught not to speak out, it’s in those rock bottom situations that we tend to find or remember our power.
