It’s taken a few tries but Digital High is finally coming around to Hayley William’s solo endeavor. After valiant efforts in “Simmer” and “Leave It Alone,” the third time’s a charm as “Cinnamon” finds that ingratiating sweet spot.

Part of her five track Petals For Armor I EP, the alt-pop departure from the norm leans heavy on unconventional influence. Off-kilter, jazzy tones shape the verse and hook while a punchy groove makes for an almost dancey vibe. It’s totally unique but totally cool.
