For my money there might not be anything more reassuring than realizing a creative breakthrough and recognizing everything is going to come together. Porter Robinson is here to validate that notion with his latest “Something Comforting.”
Follow up to his Nurture lead “Get Your Wish,” the new cut is a development of sorts. The young producer has made no secret of his artistic struggles, but this euphoric instrumental would ultimately pull him out of his song-crafting slump and act as the impetus for his return to music. Speaking in a message to fans he says:
That was the very first thing that I knew I was going to keep and I’ve probably listened to it like 10,000 times, maybe more. I would just listen to it obsessively because I was like, ‘This is good enough. This is my taste. This is my shit.’
And the rest is sonorous history.
