When you fall in love, it’s an all in type deal sometimes and sometimes there’s no going back after that. At least that’s the thought on Eighty Ninety’s newest release “Better as Friends.”

Masters of lyric and melody, the NYC-based brothers combine the two rather neatly on this synth-pop opine. Chillwave grooves set the scene as vocalist Abner James sweetly croons about pushing a relationship passed a point of no return…akin to something The 1975 might put out, but something that remains solidly in their own alt-pop lane.
