The Weeknd – Sacrifice

The Dawn FM era is upon us as The Weeknd dropped his fifth studio album last week. It’s a solid effort, not as amazing as the hype would suggest, but there is at least one track that fux.

“Sacrifice,” co-produced alongside Swedish House Mafia, is a funk-tacular, electro-pop wonder steeped in 80’s appeal. There are samples of the decade’s grooviest, “I Want To Thank You” from Alicia Myers and Denroy Morgan’s “I’ll Do Anything For You,” and an overall glam aesthetic.

But it’s the lauded soloist’s contemporary cool that bridges the eras and solidifies this tune as an album standout and his next big hit.
