Joshua Radin is showing some love to the people he holds dear on his decidedly sincere tune “This One’s For.”
Sparked by a night out during a tour stretch in Dublin, the nostalgic-minded folk offering is soft and sweet and completely earnest. Heartfelt lyricism is punctuated by a subtle drive and melody that leans into the longing. Speaking on the Irish inspiration, the troubadour tells:
After my performance, some of the loveliest Irish people brought me to a famous pub for drinks…We passed my guitar around all night, everyone playing songs. It was the first time I had ever played for people without a microphone, and I was forced to sing loudly, strum loudly, [and] belt with a voice I never knew I had.
Lucky for listeners he found it.
