Heartbreak doesn’t always have to sound so sad, at least as far as Amber Bain aka The Japanese House is concerned on their latest “Sad to Breathe.”
Despite its solemn subject matter, the second single from her sophomore album In The End It Always Does [out June 30] takes an upbeat turn as both the melody and message pick up steam in the middle of the first chorus. From there the alt-pop’r treats us to a sublime listening experience, juxtaposing emotional candor against a colorful soundscape.
Sad to breathe? No no, happy to listen!
