Dallas solo act Juliana Madrid is gearing up for the release of sophomore EP Afterlife [out Aug. 11] with her cathartic-tipped “Pixelated.”
Written for anyone stuck in their angst-ridden rumination, this alt-pop piece offers sonic solace through a rousing melody and earnest lyrical connections. Opening up on the meaning behind the message, she shares:
It can be really hard sometimes to get the bigger picture of what’s going on in your life when you’re so zoomed in on a million tiny details. Also in this song I think vocally the style may be different from any of my other songs, like the staccato note length in each chorus. I think it helps to convey this overwhelming feeling of chaos that can be a product of being alone with your thoughts and your mind racing.
Heady stuff; get out of your own way with a listen.
