Charlotte Cardin – Jim Carrey

There may not have been a comedian more formative in the mid 90s than the man who would play Ace Ventura, The Mask, and Lloyd Christmas. So it’s a real pleasure to hear Jim Carrey honored by Charlotte Cardin on her latest, melodic-minded preview of sophomore album 99 Nights [out Aug. 25].

Born out of sheer respect for his enduring legacy, “Jim Carrey” is an alt-pop lesson in selfdom and ode to the brilliance that is the actor, author, and activist. Addressing her admiration, the solo star shares:

I went into this rabbit hole of Jim Carrey interviews. He discusses ego in an interesting way. In his perspective, our need for acceptance holds us back from embracing who we really are…You can decide what your destiny is if you take a risk and accept to be who you really are at the fullest. It’s a metaphor, but marrying Jim Carrey is a good way to start the inner work.

That…and it’s just a good fuggin’ song.
