Poppy, Amy Lee, and Courtney LaPlante, three of their genre’s greats, take it upon themselves to create one of the more melodic metal moments of recent as they release “End Of You.”
This raucous breakup anthem finds their three distinct lanes of hardcore merge into a steady stream of aligned rancor; each entity’s separate styles are apparent while still serving a coalesced sound. Industrial-laced percussion, gothic-style vocality, and a progressive metalcore bent seamlessly serenade while a darkening energy percolates throughout the whole.
Speaking to the massive production in an interview with NME, they share:
It was this stacking project of adding things based on what each person did, which was really fun and unusual. – Amy Lee
We all have a different shade that we bring to not only the equation, but multiple genres. Itβs our own flavor, color, and ingredient. – Poppy
All I can do is rise to the occasion and show them the respect they deserve, that they have also shown to me. – Courtney LaPlante
That intricate execution pays all the way of in the…end.
