For their first preview of new album In The Hollow [out Oct. 30], Toronto art-punk’rs Bad Waitress bring the edge on “Loving Kind.”
The new cut, flipping the familiar love song into something more suspicious, channels a darker, stranger, and more inward style of punk you’re used to from the four females. Distorted riffs and determined percussive patterns work in tandem to make and mold a mysterious-minded mix while front-person Kali-Ann Butala brings an uncommon vocality to the verse and hook.
