Last month I opined on the Edinburgh five-piece Jakil’s debut single “Istanbul,” delicious ear candy for the pop loving masses. Today I bring forth the visual offerings for said song.
Let me say late 80’s chic never looked so good! Through the haze of brightly lit monochromatic bursts, lead singer Kieran O’Brien croons over a special one night stand who happens to be enticing our protagonist through an alluring group dance number. Backed up by his soulful brethren, this charged back and forth plays on, made special by the retro-stylings adorned by all parties involved. Acid washed jeans, side ponytails, and tracksuits all make spirited cameo appearances. Splice that in with long forgotten era-centric artifacts and you’ve got gold Jerry, gold!
“Istanbul” is officially out the 28th of September via Sticky Lips Music. The fellas follow that up with a show at The Sebright Arms over yonder in London on the 29th. Tickets still available.
