So Yellowcard has been doing their thing for the better part of nearly twenty years now [give or take a brief hiatus here and there]. For me their best work was centered around 2003’s major label debut Ocean Avenue though. With a string of West Coast pop-punk tinged hits you couldn’t ask for a better melodic experience. Building on those successes they’d go on to release a handful of more albums but I admittedly lost track through the years. Until today; they’ve caught my ear again.
Getting ready to drop their ninth studio album next month, the foursome have just released “Crash The Gates”. This latest preview like previous offerings from Lift A Sail has a decidedly edgier sound but still there are the mindful lyrics and reassuring harmonies from Ryan Key that keep true to the band’s trademark style. Consider me a devotee once more.
Lift A Sail is out October 7 via Razor & Tie.
