I’ve been meaning to write up indietronica foursome Fenech-Soler for a while, I’ve just been waiting for the right time. Well now that they’ve released some new material in the form of a contemporary remodeling of one of the legend that is Prince’s earlier hits, what better time?

The update to “I Wanna Be Your Lover” finds the Kings Cliffe gents ditching the disco-funk stylings for a more modern electro-sound, while still maintaining the underlying raw energetic appeal of the original. Gone are the unmistakable late 70’s riffs; in their place are rejuvenating synths and licks sure to gain traction in today’s digital environment. And while they’ve been performing this at live shows of recent we now have the proper studio record [premiered over at Mixmag]. Give it a spin below:
