Janet Jackson – Go Deep [Throwback]

The year was 1998. At that juncture in pop music’s storied narrative, Janet Jackson had realized her own storied career, amassing praise and accolades the world over as a result of six overwhelmingly popular studio albums all spawning a plethora of quality cuts to select today’s throwback from.

But it’s the funky-pop titillater from 1997’s The Velvet Rope that receives the write-up honors. Dripping with the sexual overtones found prominently throughout Ms. Jackson’s [because I’m nasty] catalog, the not-so-subtly titled “Go Deep” gets both the heart rate and the libido pumping thanks to the syncopated groove and carnal libretto. It’s that famous match of rhythm and desire on full display once again that brings this track home as such a party or late-night tryst staple. And when you factor in Janet’s sultry siren calls, it’s no wonder the listener is left wanting to go deep and get no sleep.

So go ahead and satiate your own urges with a play:
