Animal Collective – Golden Gal

You probably don’t know this about me, but the easiest way to my heart is through 80’s pop culture references. So it’s a no-brainer I’d get behind Animal Collective’s latest, “Golden Gal,” a psych-pop trip rooted in a 1985 episode of The Golden Girls.

The third single off of album Painting With [out this Friday] starts with dialogue between the ever-brilliant Blanche and Dorothy then dives right into techy-synth patterns intertwined with syncopated rhythms serving as a surreal backing for the Baltimore outfit’s off-center melodies. Somewhere Betty White is smiling.

Listen below and be sure to check out Painting With released Friday.
